501 King Street East - Gusto - Clay Block Walls
88 Ossington Avenue - Complete Exterior Restoration
High Park Restoration and New-Build
The project utilized our skills on many levels. We were able to restore all the brick, stone and carpentry on this late 1800's large home. We also worked on the new addition completing all the Indiana cut limestone. The results are incredible.
592 Sherbourne Street - The Selby Hotel Complete exterior and interior restoration
The Selby Mansion is our most involved project to date. We completed a full interior and exterior restoration that involved interior demolition, structural changes, elevator, new floors, plaster repairs, restoring all wood trim, stained glass windows and wood staircase. New windows and doors were installed that had to be stained to match existing. The interior looks increditble! The Exterior is just as impressive with the stone foundation restored and rebuilt. Brick restoration included a complete English tuckpointing with 4mm cream ribbon. The turned wood was matched and painted along with all the gables that had to be restored. The beautiful sunroom off the South end of the building recieved slate and windows. The new slate roof is complimented by lead coated copper. This all amounts to a showpiece as it once was in the late 1800's.
330 University Avenue, Toronto. The Canada Life Building Accessibility Ramp.
330 University Avenue or The Canada Life Building is an impressive address to work on. We understood this and accepted the challenge of building an accessibility ramp that would compliment the classical elements of this well known building. The work involved concrete forming, granite work and the decorative railing that grabs your eye as you pass by. The railing and design was left to us to create and have a custom forge make molds and cast. The spindels were taken from the front gates and size up to lend to the original metal work on the front entrances. The aluminum fabrication, painting and welding all came together for what looks like it should have been there all along. All accessibility and glass work was overseen by us. The work is excellent and we were proud to be apart of this famous building.
64-64 Charles Street, Toronto. Full Exterior Restoration
This double address on Charles sits now between two towering condows and firmly plants itself as a heritage destination as you walk by. The tuckpointed brick, restored wood detailing and victorian porch add much needed charm to the street. The handsome mandsard roof with decorative slate and lead coated copper cap the roof off beautifully. Other elements we completed were structural changes, windows and doors, chimneys and stonework. This project received an award of excellence for the revival of English tuckpointing. We now are the only company in Canada that can pull off this craft on a large scale. See the Selby or Winchester Hotel projects.
76 Howard Street, Toronto.
76 Howard Street had been moved to where it now sits at 28 Howard Street. We were involved in saving the stone foundation and moving it to the new site. The stone had to be redressed and laid with a similar bond. Brick restoration with red wash and lime mortar. We rebuilt chimneys, new slate roof and added painted metal elements. All wood gables were rebuilt and and painted to suit the new windows around the house.
21 Grenville Street, Toronto.
This large home had fallen into disrepair and neglect over the years. It had been painted and sandblasted which left the brick very pitted. We decided to achieve the best appearance, we had to remove and flip all outer whythe brick which would give us the best solution possible. It worked and was a success along with new windows, doors, custom curved dormers, lead coated copper, slate and a new flat roof. The end result speaks for itself.
